We Say Summer

I'm looking forward to summer - sooo much! Mainly because I can wear fewer clothes and actually look cool and not have to wear a billion layers!!

My Friday night was spent travelling to Walsall to see a few bands with my friend Sam. One such band was staying over at Sam's with me - We Say Summer. There were three other bands on the night - two rather metal-ly bands and one guy who was adorable. I wanted to put him in my pocket and keep him :D

They're cool, yet cruel, guys. I say cruel only because they 'Fraped' [Facebook Raped] me quite badly. It was pretty funny though :)

Whenever I listen to them, here, I always think of Panic! At The Disco. But only for a few seconds; We Say Summer are a lot more... in your face :D Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Indie and a lot of Nancy Sinatra [Don't ask why, I don't know either!! I love her though] but these "Pop-Punk/Happy-Hardcore" remind me of the good old days. Just typing that made me feel old, but I did used to listen to a lot more rock/punk music and I'm not sure why I don't anymore - I still like it though!

Anyway, the band is made up of great guys - Jay, Steve, Damien, Steve and Jamie - and even though they're cruel, they're fun. I'm probably going to see them again in April [I think] so I'll wear this -

High-Waisted black shorts - H&M
Cardigan - Dotty P
Tights - Primark probably :P
Panda Tee - We Say Summer - One of the Steve's gave Sam and me one each at the end of the night as a present for letting them crash at hers! I told them they can stay at mine next time they're in Birmingham, yeah... I'm clever like that... Damn them for living in Manchester though - summer tour ftw :)

Loving...

I didn't like it at first, but you know when a song grows on you? The video is this really cool 'stereotypical' american theme. Lots of blue and white 'tickertape' [or confetti!]

Ch- ch- ch- Checkin it out!

Listening to - You're so damn hot, Ok Go

A fairly simple outfit to throw on. It was also fairly warm! I love the check shirt look, Liv was gutted when I spotted this stunner first... £2.99!! Gotta love charity shops!
Cardigan - Peacocks
Shirt - Charity shop
Vest - H&M
Jeans - Primark

I like to make sure that the shirt cuffs stick out further than the cardigan sleeves, because it shows a bit more colour and patterning. I love this cardigan because it's 2 dress sizes bigger than me, so it fits nicely but I can wrap it tightly to warm me up, a daily essential in this weather!!

On The Tenth Day of Christmas...

My true love sent to me ten lords a' leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a' milking, seven swans a' swimming, six geese a' laying, five gold rings, four colly-birds, three french hens, wo turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.

And on the tenth day (well, the ninth night technically) I met a guy that I thought was intriguing and cute :)
So here are 10 more things I find intriguing and/or cute!

2.

Pictures of the Dark - The Cutaway from Six to Start on Vimeo.

Stick it on whilst you browse the rest, it's lovely, and it sounds fresh and interesting.

3. Mickie and Minnie mouse were married

4. This beautiful brooch from Eclectic Eccentricity. I love the colouring and the fifties style of glamour.

5. Yesterday, Channel 4 couldn't even confirm their Big Brother contestants... Oh no, what a pity (sarcasm fully intended!)

6. This beautiful dress for when it gets a bit warmer. Another from ModCloth, called Kew Gardens. I love the subtle colour of the grey against the delicate floral skirting.

7. This colour from Nails Inc. It's called Shoreditch and It's on my nails right now to combat the cold winter blues!

8. This cutesy Ooh La La shopper bag from It's Gorgeous

9. This awesome necklace from PeggyLi. I love the style and the quirky design.

10. Lily Cole is bored of modelling. I do love her acting though. St. Trinian's was excellent with her as a 'geek'.

24 Days To Go!

Christmas has swooped in like a merry little Robin, yet I can't bear to listen to christmas songs until at least the 14th, so I'm listening to Paolo Nutini's Pencil Full Of Lead. Currently 27th in the UK charts, but at least he's above Whitney Houston...

I never really liked Paolo Nutini before, I think it was New Shoes that put me off, it wasn't really my thing at the time it was released, but now I'm really enjoying his musical style.

I like a lot of his latest album, Sunny Side Up, but Pencil Full of Lead is my favourite, it's such a happy song, the lyrics concentrating on what you've got, not what you're missing. I've had a really bad two weeks, and I find that the song reminds me that not everything sucks.
It also makes me think of big musical numbers, with the trombone, the harmonica and especially the dancing girls in the video! (I want their tights!)

I think you should give it a listen because it'll actually put you in a happy, festive mood.

Yesterday, my sister came to me and said "I didn't know you liked Paolo Nutini, I've got a bit of a guilty crush on him, but he's too short." Or words to that effect. It's true, he is quite cute (just look at that happy little smile of his) but then, he does have little (emo) star tattoos on his wrist... He's only 22... pros and cons...

I would rate-
Pencil full of lead - ***** It has everything to make you happy
Sunny Side Up - **** Good to chill out to

Loving

The new Arctic Monkeys album.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It's called Humbug.
I started listening to it after I heard Crying Lightning (track 2) somewhere. A lot of the Arctic Monkeys stuff is fairly similar, but this is a bit softer and a bit mellower and I really like it. It sounds a bit like it was recorded in a basement, but that gives it a really hollow and deep tone. It's a nice change from a lot of the indie and random other music I listen. The lyrics are clever and funny at the same time, consistent with their other albums. Overall, I'd give it a **** rating; it's good, clean and generally happy, but it gets a little same-y once you've heard it once or twice.

If you have got Spotify - Arctic Monkeys – Humbug
If not... whyever not? Spotify is possibly my favourite application for computers. Apart from the actually internet browser of course!!
